Report by war correspondent Ed Lingao while embedded with the 5th Marine Battallion, Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol.
No armed unit was authorized to enter this area and so when armed men were spotted, they were suspected to be members of the Abu Sayaff. They tried to surround the suspects but were spotted in the process and so a firefight ensued.
One suspect was killed, 2 more escaped. They were later found in a hospital and claimed they are members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographi...
